Are you in the Process of Becoming a Diamond?

Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go”  ESL

Diamonds are the hardest gemstone available, graded on the Mohs scale at a 10 hardness.  To produce this breath-taking, desirable stone requires tremendous pressure, lots of time, and an upheaval to bring it to the surface.   Diamonds are formed deep beneath the earth’s crust with heat.  There they stay until the time that an earthquake or shift of the tectonic plate throws that pipeline up towards the surface to be mined.    Our lives are like that.  Some of our issues are deep under the subconscious mind and there they sit growing harder with pressure, heat, turmoil, memory, relationships, and cook.  When God’s timing is right, he will produce an event that will move that issue to the surface.  That is the time of choice.  Will this be a diamond in our life or will it be a massive crater that we will never get out of?  Trouble can make you bitter or better, only you can choose.  To get better,  you may need Godly counsel.  It can be professional or a friend.  Just be sure that it is God-based and not world-thought based.  In the Holy Bible Romans 12:1-2 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern  what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable” ESL  To be bitter, you need do nothing, just wallow in the crater and be miserable.  Your choice!

Now to diamonds.  I don’t know when the shift happened but it did.  In the mid-century, a diamond over 1/4 carat was considered gauche or gaudy.  By the 1980/90 period a girl wanted a carat stone or larger.  Because of this desire, we are seeing engagement rings increasingly made of colored gemstones, white sapphire, Moissanite (man-made diamond), and Cubic Zirconia.  It seems the look is more important than the genuine smaller precious diamond if the fellow just doesn’t have the cash for the big honker diamond.    Nothing wrong with either choice, just saying there has been a shift in expectation.

What diamond in the rough is being formed in you?  Just rest assured that God is able to sustain you through the earthquake and prayer helps.
